The club was founded on November 4 1988. On October 20, 2000 the club has moved to larger premises with surface of 482 sqm.
The club underwent complete restauration in the period from June 30 to September 23, 2008, when it was technically equipped and enlarged by additional 202 sqm. Today, the club occupies a surface of 686 sqm.
Having acquired new spaces, the club provided for a creation of new classroom, named after Rijeka chess grand-master Ivan Nemet. Together with the classroom, an Art gallery reserved for exposition of young Rijeka artists' pieces was built, as well as wardrobe and separated smokers room.
Queen, hunter, king, smokers' room and Ivan Nemet classrom are the names of premises where chess is played every day. The premises are designed in such a way that allows them to open and create one single space, which can accommodate up to 220 chess players.
